Meet the Makers
Menomonee Falls, WI
My name is Caitlan Olson, and I started Emm West in January of 2020 in the process of healing from Lyme Disease. The name Emm West comes from my sons named Emmett and Weston, to honor them. We use high quality leather and metal products from locally sourced companies. Each woman should be recognized for all they are, be made to feel worthy, and feel empowered in their lives. I honor important women in my life by naming earrings after them. You’re worthy, always know that.
Eau Claire, WI
Mel has an entrepreneurial spirit and a passion for marketing. When Mel was in high school she suffered from acne that left her skin scarred and damaged. After trying numerous products and treatments that did not work, Mel learned she had Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome (PCOS) and the root cause of her acne was a hormone imbalance. Struggling with acne into adulthood, Mel realized her body needed something different to keep the acne under control. Unable to find the right products, she decided to create her own – and Melnaturel was born! Using natural products and serums has changed Mel’s life and she wants to share them with others because they truly WORK!
Emmy Lou Bags
Hi, I’m Tammy. I am the owner, designer and maker behind Emmy Lou Bags. Each item is handmade by me from start to finish in my home in beautiful Wisconsin. My goal is not to create stuff, but quality bags with a purpose. I have always had a love/obsession with bags. You can never have too many bags, right? I started out by making my girls a bag for their bibles and after it actually turned out I decided to make a larger bag for myself and was equally shocked that one also turned out. From then on I was hooked, and have been sewing and creating bags ever since.
My entrepreneurial spirit started when I was 5 helping my family grow and sell pumpkins until middle school. I loved fancy soaps and lotions at a young age and ended up working in department store cosmetics in my early 20s. I suffered from painful cystic acne most of my adolescence and early adulthood, and quickly learned what worked (and didn’t) for my skin. Almost a decade ago I started making soap after being inspired by watching the process at Old World Wisconsin. I started making early batches with a friend and gifting the final products for Christmas. They were well received, and in 2013 Fern&Nettle was officially born.
Missy Mittel Publishing + Greetings From Wisco
I am an over caffeinated independent author and illustrator turned accidental greeting card maker. I’m also a lifelong Wisconsinite that loves to laugh too loud, talk about Dolly Parton, write and draw all the crazy ideas in my head, and love on my family and friends. I started writing in 2010 as a creative outlet during my lunch breaks as an office manager. After writing several short stories, I joined a writing organization and very hesitantly began illustrating. After all those years of practice, I finally published my first book, MEET MACK-MACK, THE LITTLE LUMBERJACK in 2018. In 2019, I published my second book, I LOVE YOU MORE THAN MACARONI & CHEESE, as well as, a few coloring and activity books. I then found an accidental love for designing greeting cards, which allowed me to add more of my own humor and personality to my work. What started as five punny cards has grown into a line of 70+ cards. One of the sayings I relate to most is: “Find what makes you happy and use it to make others happy.”
Eric Curtin Photography
Port Washington, WI
I started photography 10 Years ago and it has been a growing passion ever since. I love watching the sun rise over the Lake Michigan horizon during all seasons and weather conditions. Every day is a new canvas and you can watch from many different spots to get a different composition. Last year made it tough to get much traveling in, so many of my current prints are local including Harrington beach, Holy Hill, Port Washington and some rural scenery. I live in Belgium with my wife and 2 adult children. Prior to Belgium, I was a resident and high school graduate of Port Washington.
